SPEAK is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit dedicated to promoting debate, public speaking, and advocacy. SPEAK offers educational programs, which use debate as a tool for improving participants' professional and public speaking skills.

 

Through our program, participants learn how to use non-verbal skills, conduct thorough research, structure an argument, and present their work in front of an audience. We work with all ages. The SPEAK program can be provided as an eight-week course or a day-long seminar. Individual hour-long public speaking or research sessions are also available.

SPEAK started as a student group at Vermont Law School. Through collaboration with the University of Vermont and the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, as well as the dedication of our volunteers, SPEAK has grown into an independent organization committed to encouraging powerful voices. SPEAK has hosted programs for a variety of schools and organizations in our home state of Vermont and abroad.
